What's actually happening

Most dry eye isn't a tear problem. It's a gland problem.

Roughly 86% of dry eye disease is driven by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) โ€” the tiny oil glands along your eyelids becoming blocked or inflamed, so your tears evaporate too fast, however many drops you use.1 OptiLight targets that root cause with precise pulses of light that calm inflammation and help the glands work properly again.

Results and the number of sessions needed vary by individual. OptiLight is intended as an adjunct to other dry eye care, such as gland expression, artificial tears and warm compresses.

01

Blocked meibomian glands

Thickened oil can't reach the tear film, so tears evaporate too quickly.

02

Ongoing inflammation

A cycle of irritation keeps glands from recovering on their own.

03

Screens make it worse

Reduced blink rate during screen use speeds up tear evaporation.

04

OptiLight's role

Targeted light pulses to the periocular skin help reduce inflammation and support gland function.2

The treatment itself

Quick, comfortable, and fits around your day

A typical course is four sessions, roughly two to four weeks apart, each around fifteen minutes.

1

Protective eyewear on

You're seated comfortably and fitted with protective eye shields before anything begins.

2

Gentle pulses of light

OptiLight's Optimal Pulse Technology is applied to the skin below the eyes โ€” most patients describe a warm, snapping sensation, nothing more.

3

Gland expression & review

Sukhi follows up with gentle meibomian gland expression and checks your tear film response as you progress through the course.

OptiLight, explained

Good questions

Your questions, answered

What is OptiLight and how is it different from other dry eye treatments?
OptiLight is an FDA-cleared intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment designed specifically to address meibomian gland dysfunction, the leading cause of dry eye disease. Rather than temporarily lubricating the eye like drops, it targets the underlying inflammation affecting your oil-producing glands.
Is OptiLight painful?
Most patients describe a warm sensation or a gentle snap, similar to the flick of an elastic band, rather than pain. Protective eyewear is worn throughout, and the treatment area is limited to the skin around the eyes.
How many sessions will I need?
Our standard course is four sessions, typically spaced two to four weeks apart, followed by a review. Some patients benefit from occasional maintenance sessions afterwards โ€” Sukhi will advise based on your results.
When will I notice a difference?
Many patients notice improvements in comfort during the course, though individual response varies. OptiLight works alongside your broader dry eye management plan rather than as a single fix.
Am I suitable for OptiLight?
OptiLight is suitable for adults aged 22 and over with signs and symptoms of dry eye due to MGD and Fitzpatrick skin types Iโ€“IV. A short assessment with Sukhi will confirm suitability, including any skin or eye conditions that may need consideration.
What does the ยฃ1,100 package include?
Your initial dry eye assessment, all four OptiLight sessions with meibomian gland expression, and a follow-up review โ€” one price, no separate charges along the way.
Where are you based?
Sukhi Eye Spa is at 64D Regent Street, Leamington Spa, CV32 5EG โ€” a short walk from the town centre, with on-street parking nearby.
